DESCRIPTION
HUNZE AT SUNSET is a fine art print from the NETHERLANDS WATERLAND collection.
The image was made on the banks of the Hunze river near the village of Spijkerboor. I took the photo in the context of the book ‘Rivierenland, Nederland van Aa tot Waal’. That evening the horizon clouded over, causing the sun to disappear from view. It didn’t necessarily look like things would turn out well, but I still wanted to wait and see. And then the clouds on the horizon broke open and a powerful sunset became visible in the distance. Not enough to illuminate the sky above the Hunze, but in North Holland – a hundred kilometers to the west – it appeared to have caused a sky on fire.
The faded water and blue color are a result of using a neutral density filter.
