DESCRIPTION
STARLINGS AND PEREGRINE FALCON I is a fine art print from the BIRDS collection.
Pictured are starlings (Sturnus vulgaris), photographed in Friesland, Netherlands. Sparrowhawks (Accipiter nisus) and peregrine falcons (Falco peregrinus) were hunting near the starling roost, causing the starlings to dance, a synchronized choreography of thousands of birds. In this image a peregrine falcon is seen to the right of the starlings.
Because of the sound of a low murmur of all those bird wings and bird sounds this special kind of flock of birds is also known as murmuration.
