DESCRIPTION
YOUNG SAND DUNES WITH RIPPLES AMELAND II is a fine art print from the WADDEN collection.
The image was made on the Wadden island of Ameland, on the North Sea beach just after sunrise. Pictured are sand ripples or patterns formed by the influence of wind on the sand of the young dunes. The importance of marram grass or European beach grass (Ammophila arenaria) in the formation of dunes can also be seen. Marram grass is crucial, it holds the sand allowing the young dune to grow larger.
