AT HOME IN GARDENS
Since 1998 I have been photographing for Groei & Bloei gardens, garden fairs, garden days, garden flowers, flower arranging and other flower and plant related subjects. Garden flower photos have appeared in magazines such as Tuinieren, Home & Garden, Landleven and some foreign magazines. In 2008 I started with garden and flower photography workshops in collaboration with and in De Tuinen van Appeltern. Some years ago I started with workshops in the Botanical Gardens Utrecht.
LOCATION
The Botanic Gardens Utrecht is a university organization within Utrecht University and is located at the university complex De Uithof. They serve primarily for university education and scientific research and are a source of knowledge for experts and enthusiasts. Today, nature and environmental education is also an important goal. There is also a small greenhouse with butterflies. And there is a Garden Shop and Garden Cafe.
Fort Hoofddijk, located in the gardens, is part of the New Dutch Waterline.
PROGRAM
We start with coffee and tea at 10:00. After a short introduction we get started with flowers and plants. At noon we have lunch – not included – on the terrace in the Botanical Gardens. If we are on time, we end up with a visit to the butterflies in the greenhouse.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN
This is a one hundred percent practical workshop. We are going to photograph. During the workshop I will give you tips and instructions and help you with settings such as aperture, shutter speed, autofocus, white balance, as well as with position, perspective and composition. You will learn about exposure, depth of field, backlight, rule of thirds and much more.
Of course we are going to take beautiful photos, but the main aim is to provide you with tools to take better photos. When your technical skills improve you will have more control over your photo equipment and you will enjoy photography much more.
INTENDED FOR
This workshop is intended for beginning as well as more advanced photographers. Because of the small group, I can give you a lot of attention.
INCLUDED
Coffee or tea at the start of the workshop.
NOT INCLUDED
The entrance fee of 10 euros is not included and must therefore be paid by yourself. Admission is free for Museum Card holders.
