INTRO
Mushrooms. Autumn icons. Light brown, dark brown, orange, yellow, purple, black, red, red with white dots … There are over 5,000 varieties in the Netherlands alone! Mushrooms can be seen all year round, in forests, parks, meadows, fields, dunes, shifting sands, gardens and even in the city, among the pavers. But autumn is the season! Autumn is also the most beautiful time of the year for many photographers. The harsh sunlight of summer with great contrasts has given way to cloudy skies and diffused light. Conditions in which mushrooms and beautiful autumn colors come into their own.
You will see that photographing mushrooms is great fun. And not that complicated either. You can photograph them from all sides, they do not walk or fly away and they are not sensitive to wind.
LOCATION
The Kaapse Bossen are located near Doorn, on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, in the province of Utrecht. It is part of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park, which stretches from Driebergen to Rhenen. The Kaapse Bossen consists of a natural and varied forest with winding forest paths, historic church paths and stately beech avenues. This results in a great variety of animals and plants. There are different types of woodpeckers, hawfinch, tawny owl and pine marten. In autumn, mushrooms shoot up everywhere, in all colors and shapes.
In the area you will find many traces of the past: burial mounds, historic paths, old border walls and country estates. After returning from the South African Cape, the Swellengrebel family bought this area around 1750, which at that time consisted of heathland and sand drifts. They gave it the name Kaapse Bossen. Special features in the area are also the Stenen Tafel, the Doornse Kei and the lookout tower De Kaap.
PROGRAM
We start with coffee, tea and cake from 12.45 am. After a short introduction, we get to work. We don’t walk a great distance. The workshop ends around 5 pm.
INTENDED FOR
This workshop is intended for beginning and as well as more advanced photographers. Because of the small group, I can give you a lot of attention.
